Apple Sports landed here on 20 May 2026, ahead of the World Cup. It's free, it's fast, and it covers around 50 competitions - none of which are Australian. Here's the honest rundown.
Apple Sports works in Australia, but no Australian league is in it. No AFL, no NRL, no cricket, no A-League, no NBL. What you get is soccer, the American majors, motorsport, golf and tennis.
What Apple Sports covers
- Soccer, in depth. The Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, the Champions League, MLS, Liga MX and the NWSL, plus domestic leagues from Scotland to Japan to Peru and the major cup competitions.
- The American majors. NFL, NBA, WNBA, MLB, NHL, and college football and basketball.
- Motorsport. Formula 1 and NASCAR.
- Golf and tennis. The PGA Tour and LPGA Tour, and men's and women's tennis.
What's missing
Every code this country actually watches:
- AFL and AFLW
- NRL and NRLW
- Cricket, in any format - no Tests, no ODIs, no Big Bash
- The A-League, men's and women's
- The NBL, Super Rugby, netball and Supercars
The soccer list is the telling one. Apple covers the Ecuadorian Serie A, the Peruvian Primera División and the Polish Ekstraklasa - and not the A-League. This isn't a small app that hasn't got around to us; it's a big list that skips Australia.
